It's been almost 4 months since COVID-19 shut down much of our world. I know for many this has seemed like a bit of a house arrest, difficult and isolating. I'm happy to say that after reviewing local public health recommendations (in addition to living and breathing the developing situation through my work in municipal communications), I'm confident it's safe to start having FEEL sessions at the farm.
Here's how we'll stay safe:
I'll send a screening out 24 hours prior to your session, ensuring you're safe to come
We have disposable masks and hand sanitizer on hand at all times in the tack room
Today is the day before Mother’s Day – looking outside at the snow, it’s hard to believe.
This Spring has brought some surprises, the least of which is the long, late-coming spring weather. The magnolia tree is still attempting to bloom, with snow on its buds. The daffodils are only part way up, and the pastures are still trying to mature for grazing.
Aside from that, the COVID-19 pandemic has rocked everyone’s world for at least the last 8 weeks. I hope you are all healthy and finding ways to adjust to the ‘new not-normal’.
Whenever I take a break from the busy-ness of my work in municipal communications to pop out to the hors...
Barney’s beginning with our family started over 5 years ago, in November 2015. I believe he was called to join us, to heal and be healed. He died January 6, 2020.
His angels along the way included Christine of Freedom Valley Horse Rescue who saved Barney from the slaughter. We then found him through the help of Manuela Stefan, of Graceful Horses Photography. Both women bonded quickly with Barney, and helped him find his new home with us. Manuela has kept in touch over the years and even looked after the herd while we’ve been away. Her last stay here, she along with our kind neighbours, helped sav...
It’s been a while since I last posted. The summer season was a funny one this year – slow to start and then so hot and dry – hard on the pastures. But the flies weren’t bad at all.
Fall is shaping up to be the most comfortable season yet. The colours are gorgeous too.
I wanted to share what’s been happening with Barney the last six months, as many of you know and love him. Suddenly in May, he became incontinent. Out of the blue, one day I noticed he was constantly dribbling urine.
The vet examined him and the good news was there are no blockages, bladder stones or infection. His bladder is quite enlarged, and in a constantly overf...
I chose an activity about letting go. I think it was good though for me to get things off my chest, face them and reach a better understanding of things through Kola and the others. Thanks for letting me share. It is going to help other people find their way to the horses. I would love to visit again.
Thank you Cheri for offering the Visioning Workshop. It was such an exciting experience, and completely grounding at the same time. You and the horses gave me a wonderful sense of belonging and support.
From just one afternoon, my own path is clearer to me, and I trust my instincts more. The beauty of the herd and your farm is unforg...
The snow this past weekend was a little unexpected, but take heart, spring really is here! It's April now, the days are longer, the horses are shedding their winter coats and we can breathe in the first signs of spring. We are taking bookings for weekends starting April 13/14. Many of you have received Christmas gift certificates...friendly reminder to get booked in for your horse time! Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for updates!
Friday night I felt I was coming down with something and had changed into my pj's right after work. My youngest son and I went to the barn for night check before settling in for a movie.
When I approached the fence, I heard groaning coming from the barn, and when I looked in, saw that Barney was down and couldn't get up.
In the moments that passed, I was surprising calm, calling neighbours who I knew I could count on to help, calling the vet, digging around Barney to try to give him more room to move. He was tired, but kept trying every few minutes. He would take a bit of water from the bucket and an apple. Get...
I’ve started to pay attention to the unique number of the coming year. It’s fun to meditate on the number and what it can manifest for the coming months. I like the descriptions used by Simone Matthews. Here’s what she has to say about next year: 2019: 2 + 0 + 1 + 9 = 12, 1 + 2 = 3
“The number ‘3’ in numerology is all about joy, creativity, communication, emotional sensitivity, expression, socializing… and I will say it again… JOY! So 2019 will be a year of fun, allowing our passionate hearts drive our endeavours, being lighter, more free-spirited, creatively expressive and putting play into our work, our relationships, our...
Since the FEEL session, I've been able to find the courage to try things in the complete opposite way of what I have done in my life. I’m finding it incredibly rewarding and am developing confidence that carries with it a horse like ease and grace.
"I'd made the decision to open myself up to the grief that I'd been holding. This experience with the horses allowed me to heal. I felt so safe with the horses. I'm grateful for everything I took away from my time with them." Anne D
You may, too, have some grief that you’d like to allow to flow into a safe place. Or maybe you are full of fears, or feeling vulnerable or anxious. The horses will help you release what needs to be let go, and help fill you up with what can take it's place. (See an example of how in the exercise below).
There's no judgement when you're working with horses, only a pure, energetic connection.
