Our Story

Horse Discovery began with a lifelong love of horses and a belief that they have an extraordinary ability to help people grow.

Founder Cheri Davidson spent her childhood immersed in horses - drawing them, studying their behaviour, caring for them and riding whenever she could. What began as a passion eventually became something much bigger: a vision to create a place where horses could help people build confidence, strengthen relationships and reconnect with themselves.

That vision became reality in 2001, when Cheri and her husband Paul purchased an 85-acre farm in the rolling hills of Northumberland County. As they settled into life with their own herd, Cheri discovered Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning (FEEL®), a model that combines experiential learning with the unique awareness and responsiveness of horses. She completed her FEEL® Certification in 2014 and Advanced FEEL® Certification in 2025, laying the foundation for what Horse Discovery has become today.

Over the years, Horse Discovery has grown into a welcoming space where children, youth, adults, families and organizations come to slow down, learn and experience meaningful connection. Through guided experiences with horses, participants explore confidence, emotional awareness, communication, leadership and personal growth in a peaceful natural setting.

Today, Horse Discovery continues to evolve by offering new programs, workshops and retreats while remaining grounded in the same belief that inspired its beginning: horses have an incredible ability to help people discover their strengths, navigate life's challenges and reconnect with what matters most.
