FIRST HARVEST FARM

Welcome to the farm!

Your peaceful retreat begins here. Just southwest of Peterborough, about 75 minutes from downtown Toronto, First Harvest Farm is next to the Ganaraska Forest and thousands of acres of protected forest trails.

Our secluded 85 acre family farm is on the Oak Ridges Moraine. Some of the land is planted with crops and hay, and the rest is pasture for our horses. We have walking trails and a 10 acre managed forest to explore.

The herd

We currently have 8 horses in our herd: Kola, Zorro, Soleil, Auna, Chance, Oscar, Maia and Sheamus. They love to interact with people and are ready to partner with you in your self-discovery journey. Come and get to know them.

The horses enjoy living outdoors as nature intended. They have a spacious run-in shelter and access to 25 acres of pasture.

We also have a stable with two stalls, heated tack room/washroom and kitchen. This makes winter sessions much more enjoyable!

Many activities take place in the round pen and stable, but we also take walks and spend time together in the fields.

The property

The first comment from guests about the farm is always how private it is. We have trails and an outdoor 'chapel' to explore if you enjoy walking, bird watching or snow-shoeing.

In the summer, there's a meditation garden and pond, napping hammock and lots of open space to enjoy the outdoors.

Hearty picnic meals are available to complete your day. Hike out to the back hill and picnic while you overlook the horses grazing.

Group retreats can include your corporate team, Board of Directors, service club or family for a unique learning experience.

🎞 Come along for a tour of our walking trails and meet a couple members of the Herd. This video was created during the pandemic to offer an 8-minute escape into nature.

🎞 Also check out a video on How Horses Heal. Hear about how Horse Discovery's team of two and four legged facilitators help clients move through trauma, anxiety and depression.
