Supporting Mental Health and Well-Being at Horse Discovery

Maia_edited.jpg

We believe everyone deserves to feel their best, and we welcome you on your best, or your worst day.

We support mental wellness through safe, horse-guided experiences that invite presence, self-awareness, connection, and hope.

Our work is grounded in FEEL®, Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning, and offered year-round through private sessions, shared experiences, retreats, meditation with horses, and community programs.

In 2026, Horse Discovery was recognized with the Champion of Mental Health Award from the Canadian Mental Health Association, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge.  The award highlights our commitment to creating a welcoming place where people can experience knowledge, hope, and belonging alongside the herd.

How we support mental wellness

Horse Discovery is not a crisis service and does not replace clinical care. We offer a supportive wellness and learning environment where people can:

  • Explore self-awareness, emotions, and boundaries with the horses

  • Practice presence, breath, and grounding in a natural setting

  • Build confidence, communication, and connection skills

  • Experience hope and belonging in a non-judgemental community

Our programs are designed for people of all ages and abilities, and no previous horse experience is required.

Testimonial

I had the pleasure of introducing four groups of H.O.P.E. Learning Centre participants to Equine Therapy at Horse Discovery Farm. Many were anxious on the way there, unsure what to expect, but the ride home was filled with excitement and gratitude.

One participant shared that before the session she had felt suicidal, but connecting with her horse helped her rediscover a sense of worth and hope.

Another described the experience as calming and transformative for her anxiety.

Even a staff member who had feared horses since childhood joined in and expressed deep gratitude for stepping outside her comfort zone.

The compassionate facilitators at Horse Discovery created a safe, supportive space that encouraged mindfulness, hands-on learning, and genuine connection.

It was truly moving to witness the impact on our participants and to collaborate with Cheri and her wonderful team. I’m deeply grateful for this partnership and look forward to future sessions.
