Complementary Healing

with the Wisdom of the Horse

At Horse Discovery, we offer a safe and supportive environment for individuals who are actively in treatment or recovery from addiction. While we do not work with anyone under the influence, our programs are designed to complement professional treatment by helping participants rebuild inner balance, confidence, and connection.

Horses live fully in the present moment. Working alongside them invites us to slow down, notice our breath, and reconnect with our bodies. In the quiet rhythm of the farm, participants learn regulation through mindfulness and awareness, experiencing what it feels like to be calm, grounded, and authentic.

Time spent in nature and partnership with horses encourages clarity and self-alignment. As trust deepens, many find a renewed sense of purpose and wholeness that supports their ongoing recovery journey.

Activities can include:

  • reflective grooming

  • taking a horse for a walk on the trails or into the forest

  • meditation with the herd in the pasture

  • feeding the herd

We believe healing happens through presence, connection, and compassion — three things horses teach beautifully every day.

Private and group sessions are available, guided by Certified FEEL Facilitators, a Psychotherapist, or a Social Worker.

I had the pleasure of introducing four groups of H.O.P.E. Learning Centre participants to Equine Therapy at Horse Discovery Farm. Many were anxious on the way there, unsure what to expect, but the ride home was filled with excitement and gratitude.

One participant shared that before the session she had felt suicidal, but connecting with her horse helped her rediscover a sense of worth and hope. Another described the experience as calming and transformative for her anxiety. Even a staff member who had feared horses since childhood joined in and expressed deep gratitude for stepping outside her comfort zone.

The compassionate facilitators at Horse Discovery created a safe, supportive space that encouraged mindfulness, hands-on learning, and genuine connection. It was truly moving to witness the impact on our participants and to collaborate with Cheri and her wonderful team. I’m deeply grateful for this partnership and look forward to future sessions.
